With every step we take and every choice we make, we aim to empower the individual, and by doing so, bolster the nation’s economic growth in the long run.
United Way India Foundation focuses on making skill-training accessible to members of underprivileged communities, which helps them overcome financial obstacles and improves their quality of life. Our scope of work includes creation of jobs that are sustainable — both economically and environmentally.
The United Nations’ SDG on ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’ aims to reduce youth unemployment, and put into operation a global strategy for youth employment. Our initiatives go beyond practical groundwork to the advocation of policymaking that addresses the same. India aims to achieve United Nations Sustainable Development Goal-5, which focuses on women empowerment and gender equality, by 2030. Holistic development of women’s social, economic, cultural, and political rights is critical to achieving economic growth and in alleviating poverty.
Through our WO-MANGROVE Mission, United Way India Foundation provides upskilling training to women on techniques and methods of plantation and supported their monthly family ration under the ‘Food for Work’ programme. This had an indirect impact on villagers who were motivated to take part in the labor force.
Our other programs include work in the communities to empower youth by skilling them in job-oriented and certified skilling programs.
